Getting started · 2 minutes

Create your family account

Only grown-ups create accounts. Kids get their own sign-in inside your family, so you stay in control.

  1. Open the sign-up page

Go to purplpanda.com and tap Create a free family account.

  2. Fill in your details

Enter Your name, Email, and a Password (at least 8 characters), then tap Create account.

  3. Confirm your email

You’ll land on your dashboard with a banner that says Please confirm your email. Open the link we emailed you. Didn’t get it? Tap Resend email on the banner.

  4. Next time, sign in

Tap Parent sign in at the top of the home page (it shows as Sign in on phones), enter your email and password, and tap Sign in.

Forgot your password? On the sign-in page, tap Forgot password?, enter your parent account email, and follow the reset link we send you.

Set up your child’s tablet

PurplPanda runs in the web browser, so there’s nothing to download from an app store. Add it to the home screen and it opens just like an app.

  1. Open Safari and go to purplpanda.com.

  2. Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow pointing up).

  3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen, then Add.

  4. Tap the new PurplPanda icon, then tap Kids start here and enter your family code once.

Where’s my family code? It’s on your parent dashboard in the Kid sign-in on a tablet box. Tap the code to copy it.

Add a child

Each child gets their own grade, lessons, and progress. Add every kid you’re helping learn.

  1. Open your parent dashboard

Sign in. You’ll see Hi, [your name] and a summary of how your learners are doing this week.

  2. Tap “Add a child”

The first time, this is the big Add a child button in the middle of the page.

  3. Fill in their profile

    • First name, which is what they’ll see on screen. No last name needed.
    • Grade, from 1st through 8th. This picks their skills and lessons.
    • PIN, 4 digits your child will type to sign in. Write it down for them.
    • Picture. Let your child choose; they’ll tap it to sign in.
  4. Optional: own email login

For older kids, you can give them an email and a Kid password (at least 6 characters) so they can sign in from Parent sign in on any device. Leave it blank to use the family code and PIN only.

  5. Tap “Add child”

Their card shows up on your dashboard right away, with Progress & lessons and Start [name]’s session buttons.

Family & kids

How kids sign in

  1. On the home page, tap Kids start here (or I’m a kid).

  2. Type the Family code and tap Continue. The tablet remembers it after the first time.

  3. On Who’s learning today?, your child taps their picture.

  4. They type their 4-digit PIN, and they’re in.

Kid has their own email login? They can tap Sign in with email instead, or use Parent sign in. That page works for parents and for kids with their own email login.

Forgot their PIN?

Kids can’t reset their own PIN, and that’s on purpose. On your dashboard, open the child’s Progress & lessons page, tap Edit, type a new PIN, and tap Save changes.

Family & kids

Share one tablet between kids

  1. When one child is done, they tap Switch kid or sign out.

  2. The next child taps their own picture and types their own PIN.

Getting back to the parent dashboard

From kid mode, tap Grown-ups: open dashboard, type your Parent password or PIN, and tap Unlock dashboard. Tap Keep learning to go back.

Tired of typing your password? On your dashboard, tap Set a quicker parent PIN. Kids can’t open the dashboard without it.

Family & kids

Invite another parent

Everyone in Grown-ups in this family sees the same kids, lessons, and progress. Each person has their own login and parent PIN.

  1. On your dashboard, find the Grown-ups in this family box.

  2. Type the Other parent’s email and tap Invite a parent.

  3. They open the emailed link. If they already have an account, they tap Sign in and join. If not, they enter their name and a password and tap Create my login and join.

Note: Each family has a limit on how many grown-ups can join. The box shows how many spots are used.

Family & kids

Edit, change grade, or remove a child

  1. On your dashboard, tap Progress & lessons on the child’s card.

  2. Tap Edit. You can change their first name, grade, PIN, picture, or email login.

  3. Tap Save changes. A new grade shows the new grade’s skills the next time they sign in.

Removing a child: in Edit, tap Remove this child, then Delete. This permanently erases their progress.

Lessons & skills · 30 seconds

Assign a lesson

Your child can practice any skill for their grade on their own. Assigning a lesson puts a specific skill at the top of their list under Your lessons, with bonus XP for finishing.

  1. Open the child’s page

    Dashboard → Progress & lessons.

  2. Tap “Assign a lesson”

Pick a Subject, Grade, and Skill. Custom skills show a ★ and “(custom)”.

  3. Choose how much

Choose Questions (5, 10, 15, or 20). You can also add a Due date and a Note for your child, like “You’ve got this!”

  4. Tap “Assign lesson”

It shows up on their home screen right away. Your dashboard shows how many lessons are assigned and waiting.

Can’t find the right skill? In the assign window, tap Create a custom … skill under “Don’t see the skill you need?”, or make one from homework.

Lessons & skills · 2 minutes

Make a skill from homework

Take a picture of a worksheet or upload a photo or PDF. PurplPanda writes a short lesson and 10 new questions like the ones on the page. You review everything before saving.

  1. Go to Custom skills

Tap Custom skills at the top of the parent dashboard, then tap From homework photo.

  2. Pick the subject and grade

Choose the Subject and Grade the homework belongs to.

  3. Add the pages

Tap Take a picture to use the camera, or Upload photo or PDF. You can add up to 4 pages.

    • Lay the page flat in good light.
    • Make sure the writing is readable, with no fingers or shadows over it.
  4. Anything to focus on? (optional)

For example, “Only the word problems” or “make them a bit easier.”

  5. Tap “Make 10 practice questions”

    This takes about 20–40 seconds.

  6. Review the draft

A banner says Drafted from your homework photo. Check each correct answer (the filled circle), edit anything you like, and tap Try it to preview. Nothing is saved yet.

  7. Tap “Create skill”

You can assign it to a child right away, or tap Not now.

Privacy: photos go to an AI service to write the questions, and PurplPanda doesn’t store them. You may still want to crop out your child’s full name or school first.

Lessons & skills · 5 minutes

Build a custom skill from scratch

Great for weekly spelling words, vocabulary lists, or anything your child’s class is covering. Custom skills show up next to the regular skills for that grade.

  1. Start a new skill

Go to Custom skills → New skill (or Create your first skill if you don’t have any yet).

  2. About this skill

Choose a Subject and Grade, then give it a Skill name like “Spelling words: Week 8”. A Short description, Mini lesson, and Key points (one per line) are optional.

  3. Add questions

Tap Add a question and pick a type:

    • Multiple choice: one question with answer choices.
    • Put in order (drag): type the items in the correct order, and kids drag them back into place.
    • Sort into 2 groups (drag): name two groups, then list at least 4 items as item | group.

Have a list already? Tap Paste a list to add many questions at once. Show an example shows the format.

  4. Preview and save

Tap Try it to play it like your child would, then tap Create skill.

To change a skill later, open it from Custom skills and tap Save changes. To delete one, tap Delete and confirm with Delete skill, or tap Keep it to cancel.

Lessons & skills

Practice & games

After signing in, kids see a greeting, their level, XP, and day streak, plus any lessons you assigned under Your lessons. They can pick a subject and skill, read the short lesson, and tap Start practice. Practice avoids repeating questions.

Bamboo Sprint

60 seconds. How many can you get?

Panda Match

Flip cards to match questions and answers.

Bamboo Climb

Climb higher with 3 hearts. Don’t fall!

Type It

No choices. Type the math answer on the keypad.

Sweet spot: 15–20 minutes a day works better than one long session a week. Assigned lessons earn bonus XP, which keeps kids coming back.

Account & help

Account, privacy & safety

Reset your password

On the sign-in page, tap Forgot password? and enter your parent account email. Open the link, type your new password twice, and save.

Set or change your parent PIN

On your dashboard, tap Set a quicker parent PIN (or Change parent PIN). To remove it, enter your account password and tap Remove parent PIN.

Remove a child’s profile

Open the child’s Progress & lessons page → Edit → Remove this child → Delete. This permanently erases that child’s progress.

What do you keep about my child?

Only what’s needed to run their practice: a first name, grade, picture, 4-digit PIN, an optional email login, and their learning progress.

Can my child chat with other kids?

No. There’s no chat or messaging, and kids don’t need an email address. They sign in with your family code and a 4-digit PIN.

Delete the whole family account

Submit a support ticket with the category “Account & sign-in” and we’ll delete your account and all child profiles.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

I never got the confirmation email

Check spam, junk, and promotions folders, and search your inbox for “PurplPanda.” Still missing? Tap Resend email on the yellow banner on your dashboard.

My child can’t sign in

Check that the tablet has the right Family code. To change it, tap Use a different family code. PINs are exactly 4 digits, and you can reset one from Edit on the child’s page.

“No kids added yet” on the kid screen

That family hasn’t added any children yet. A grown-up needs to add a child from the parent dashboard first.

“Homework scanning isn’t switched on”

The homework photo feature is temporarily unavailable. You can still build a custom skill by hand. Please let us know if you see this.

My homework photo didn’t make good questions

Retake it flat, in bright light, with the whole page in view. Printed worksheets work better than handwriting. Add a note under “Anything to focus on?” to steer it, and edit any question before tapping Create skill.

The page looks blank or won’t load

Pull down to refresh, or close the tab and reopen from the home screen icon. Check the Wi-Fi connection. If it still won’t load, clear the browser’s cache.

Progress isn’t showing up

Progress saves as your child answers. Refresh the Progress & lessons page after they finish a session.
